A Christmas ball with the nativity printed into its shell as a lithophane: white plastic of varying thickness, so the scene only appears when light comes through it. Hang it in front of a window or over a tree light and the figures come up out of a blank white ball - leave it in the dark and it is just a sphere, which is half the trick. A mosquito trap that uses a jar you already have: a funnel that drops into a mason jar's mouth, so a jar of water and a spoon of sugar becomes a trap. The cone lets a mosquito in and the jar's own walls keep it there. A candy machine that turns a canning jar into a dispenser: a base that screws onto the jar's own lid ring, a knob and a printed pin, so no screw is needed anywhere. Plant labels for a garden that gets replanted: the designer built them parametric, so the size, the shape and the lettering can all be cut to suit a bed, and each label takes only a few grams of filament even with a colour change. Christmas ornaments in the shape of balls, in three sizes - 40, 60 and 80 mm across - with the number of double ribs going up with the size: six on the smallest, ten in the middle and fourteen on the largest, each rib 3 mm wide. Each ball prints in two pieces, the ball and the bottom that closes it, and the designer prints that bottom with a support so the curve comes out clean and the ball sits tight against it. A practice mute for trombone, printed in three parts: the long tapered body that goes down into the bell, the flared cup that caps it, and the small collar that keeps the two together. 250 mm long and 193 mm across the cup, so it takes a full-size bell.
